PA44WFF/P, Viervoudige activiteit: PAFF-0032/0037/0052/0133, 12/13/14 maart 2022

Afgelopen (lang) weekend heb ik vier parken geactiveerd. PAFF-0052, Naardermeer (12 maart), PAFF-0133, Lepelaarplassen (13 maart), PAFF-0032, Oostvaarderplassen (13 maart) en PAFF-0037, Horsterwold (14 maart).

Het waren mooie zonnige dagen. Wel af en toe een frisse wind, maar met een temperatuur van ca. 14 ℃ was het goed te doen. PAFF-0133 was echt super. In minder dan een uur ruim 70 QSO’s in het log. Een record in mijn Flora en Fauna activaties. De laatste activatie daarentegen was een hele lastige. Slechts 46 QSO’s in ruim 2 uur. Het was echt harken. Ik zat toen eerst boven in de Tuurtoren. Maar dat werd erg koud na een halfuurtje. Daarna beneden aan de picnic tafel verder gegaan. Wellicht dat de stalen constructie van de toren zorgde voor wat slechtere propagaties. Vooral op zondag nog wat SOTA en WWFF stations gewerkt. Dus al met al erg wisselende propagaties. Ondanks dat was het toch een geweldig lang weekend.

Ik heb deze keer weer de bekende spullen gebruikt. KX3 - CW - QRP - EFHW 40/30/20 antenne. 15 meter fibre antenne mast en 12V/4200 mAh accu pack. Vanaf de derde activatie werkte mijn CAT kabel niet meer. Dus dat was even een gedoe. N1MM opnieuw instellen om toch te kunnen loggen. Dus tijdens de laatste 2 activaties moest ik met de hand seinen.

ON8WR hackt vanuit PAFF-0037

For the SHA2017 hacker camp I was in PAFF-0037 for 5 days. We had a huge camping there for about 4000 people. There was 100Gbit internet to the field, and generators capable of generating 1MW of Power.

With a couple of Belgians we set up a Belgian Village at the camping, that's why the flags are on the mast :). Since I was there anyway I decided to bring some antennas and try to make some QSO's. 

It turned out when you put 4000 hackers on a field with chinese power supplies, LED's, tesla coils,... it has an inpact on the noise. All bands had a noise level of over S9. On 40m at some parts of the bands noise was S8 so I decided to go for this band. 

I tried a couple of hours and made a couple of qsos, but I am sure for every QSO I made there were 5 people calling I could not hear (sorry for that, I really tried!). I also tried 20m, first with the random wire and after that with the inverted-V but that didn't really work. I made 5 qso's but QRM was over S9 so I gave in. 

Too bad I could not make more QSO's. 

During my activity in PAFF-0037 I made 87 qso's in 18 countries. 82 of them were on 7Mhz. I made one park 2 park contact, and a QSO with a WCA activator.

Yaesu FT857d - 100w (powered by generator) 

Antennas used: 
Inverted V 40m (above the flags) at 9m high 
Inverted V 20m (underneath the flags) at 7m high 
Random wire antenna +- 30m with mfj-16010 tuner at 5m high 

To be improved: On the next hacker camps I'll try to use a magnetic loop. Because of the high Q factor maybe there will be less QRM. I want to build a magnetic loop for portable use anyway, does anyone have experience with that?

I want to activate Horsterwold  PAFF-037 on. Monday April 8.

Start around 10.00 UTC.

Frequency  around 7.144KHz and 14.244 KHz, perhaps later on other bands as well.
